'53two' was established as Manchester’s, biggest and most versatile Arts Venue, managed by Manchester Actors’ Platform. Spanning two of Deansgate’s famous tunnels, the venue was made up of two separate components making it perfect for every occasion, including being the central venue for Manchester's independen theatre scene. The venue was operated primarily as a theatre with the space also offering room for exhibitions, gigs, events, celebrations, rehearsals, classes, conferences, banquets, weddings and more.
53two will soon be moving into brand new premises to continue their work in the arts as a theatre, creating accessible and diverse theatre. In the meantime, 53two studios operates in central Manchester, providing affordable, accessible rehearsal, workshop, meeting and casting space.
'53two' is operated as a charity and once running costs have been met, the team and creatives paid, profit will be held in a 'pot'. At regular intervals, the sum or portions thereof will be donated to upcoming artists, actors and/or musicians as a bursary to train, record or develop their work. You can read more about this here.
