MonologueSlam UK is THE industry showcase for actors from all backgrounds and profiles. Sponsored by Spotlight and supported by industry as a whole, MonologueSlam UK is open to everyone. After a lengthy audition process, 20 actors, including the Youth Round for 11-17 year olds, are chosen to perform for a welcoming audience and a panel of professionals who are in a position to progress their careers.
There are many success stories that have occurred through MonologueSlam UK. Ryan Calais Cameron was scooped up by Clint Dyer for a lead role in The Westbridge at the Royal Court (his professional theatre debut), Chizzy Akudolu was seen performing at MonologueSlam UK by BBC Casting Director Liz Stoll before winning her role on Holby City and many actors have secured representation after performing at the event.
Winners from the regional events are invited to perform at the National Final in December at Theatre Royal Stratford East in London, for a chance to be crowned National Champion. The champion will take home an extensive prize package designed to take their career to the next level, including 1 year’s free Spotlight membership and the chance to record a monologue at Spotlight Studios, a headshot session and one-to-one advice from industry professionals.
